Some of you may have noticed last week that images of a grapple for forestry work attached to a Yanmar excavator was uploaded to our Twitter and Facebook pages.
The grapple was fitted right here by A&Y's service team to a true zero tail swing ViO57 excavator.
This week the machine has been hard at work down South with HMC Forestry, where the operator has proclaimed it to be ''the best thing since sliced bread!''
At the end of this article you will see a number of images of the ViO57 at work but first a bit more about the excavator and why it was so suited to this attachment and field of work.
The ViO57 weighs 5325kg and as previously mentioned is true zero tail swing (neither the counterweight nor front part of the upper frame exceed the crawler width), which offers extraordinary tight turning and the confidence to work effectively in narrow spaces.
Stability and exceptional lifting capacties are essential for this machine as it will often be working with the arm fully extended. Thanks to the combination of a wide counterweight,
asymmetric crawlers (system patented by Yanmar VICTAS®), and excellent weight
distribution, provide the ViO57U with just that.
The VICTAS® system consists in increasing the bearing surface by increasing the track path and using asymmetric crawlers, giving the machine:
> Increased lateral stability and lifting capacity.
> Reduced track wear.
> Quiet, vibration free movement.
The cabin’s use of a high-strength, high-rigidity ROPS enhances protects operator space in the unlikely event of a rollover. It also conforms to the FOPS 1 standard for structures protecting the operator from falling objects. This sturdy cabin lets you work in comfort and confidence.
