The second part of our annual review concentrates on July - December which included the small matters of a re-brand and new excavator line!
Thank you from everyone at Molson Compact Equipment for your support during 2018. Let's hope 2019 brings more success for everyone.
Hands up who spotted the Dieci telehandlers working at European race tracks over the summer? Twelve Zeus 37.7s and Dedalus 30.7s were on hand not only to help with race week setups but also to clear up after any unfortunate accidents. We watched an early collision in one race, in the space of a few minutes, the Zeus 37.7 machine positioned in the escape route, at the exit of the corner, hitched up and carried off the two cars, while marshals removed dangerous fragments from the track.
Plant Hire firm, Plantforce, added a number of Dieci Apollo 25.6R telehandlers into their growing fleet. The Apollo 25.6R a model specifically spec’d for hire work and suiting the requirements of Plantforce. Further options were added to these machines to make them ready for hire. This included; green flashing beacons, radio systems and reverse camera kits. All of which was fitted by our engineers.
We supported the Molson Group stand at the APF forestry show by having a Bergmann 4010 tracked dumper on the demo plot. This 10 tonne, tracked dumper with a rotating skip and fully turning operators platform is perfect for use on large outdoor jobs such as forestry work. Features such as: low ground pressure, powerful engine and a large comfortable cab, make it it particularly suited to this work.
*Hello Molson Compact Equipment LTD*
In line with the current evolution of the Molson Group, we re-branded as Molson Compact Equipment LTD in October this year. This meant our site just outside of Stratford-upon-Avon, became the Molson Group ‘Centre of Excellence’ for all compact plant equipment.
Molson Compact Equipment Managing Director, Robert Brown said of the changes “Being the centre of excellence will involve us being responsible for the processing of Sales, Parts, Servicing, Storage and PDI for the Molson Group compact ranges. Whilst still offering ongoing Yanmar parts and service support”
A big part of the re-brand is the addition of Kobelco mini excavators to the Molson Compact offering. These excavator models, from 1-10 tonne, perfectly complement the existing lines of Ammann, Dieci, Bergmann and Cormidi plant machinery. Models including the 1 tonne, SK10SR-2, 2.8 tonne SK28SR-6, 7 tonne SK75SR-3 and 8 tonne SK85MSR-3 all started going through our workshop in Novemeber.
A group of Molson Compact staff, as well as current and prospective customers took a trip to the Bergmann factory in Meppen, Germany. It was great to see how these high quality dumpers are put together and the build quality along each step of production. Also on site was the car part manufacturing area, where Bergmann produce manifolds for Porsche and Ferrari.
We have made a strong start with our Kobelco excavators, new machines are going through the workshop and out for delivery daily. From the smallest SK08 up to our largest SK85 have all been sold in the past couple of weeks.
You can view all of our Kobelco range, including brochures and specs here:

This week we have sold one of our Dieci 40.7 telehandlers, to a customer who required a powerful, yet precise machine. Whilst having all the operator comforts such as air con and a large fabric seat.
This fixed-boom telehandler with a specific vocation for heavy and intensive use, is equipped with an innovative second generation VS EVO2 hydrostatic transmission (Continuously Variable) that allows the operator to always find the best possible speed/power ratio in any operating conditions. Thus ensuring unrivaled smoothness and fluidity of movement.
The VS EVO2 transmission combined with the electronic management system, also allows fuel savings up to 20%.
The new DCS (Descent Control System) ensures maximum boom lowering speeds even with engine running on minimum, allowing the users exceptional maneuverability and greater comfort.
Further benefits gained from the DCS system is; more precise movements, more responsive controls at the start of a movement and increased all around stability.
Furthermore, the machine is less prone to the environmental conditions and is ready and efficient even when the hydraulic oil is cold.

Plant Hire firm, Plantforce, have added a number of Dieci Apollo 25.6R telehandlers into their growing fleet.
Powered by a Kubota engine with maximum torque of 170Nm @ 1,600rpm. The Dieci 25.6R provides a capacity of 2,500kg and a maximum lifting height of 5.78m, all in a compact package featuring vital statistics of 4.10m in length, 1.84m in width and 1.94m in height.
The lifting height will extend to 5.78m with a capacity at that reach of 1.7t, and a maximum outreach of 3.25m.
This makes the Apollo 25.6R a model specifically spec’d for hire work and suiting the requirements of Plantforce. Further options were added to these machines to make them ready for hire. This included; green flashing beacons, radio systems and reverse camera kits. All of which was fitted by A&Y’s engineers.
Plantforce’s Midlands Depot Manager, Joe McCormack said of the deal “we have been interested in the Dieci range for a while now. During a recent visit to the factory in Italy and seeing the quality materials and way these are manufactured made it a no brainer that we needed to invest in some Dieci products.”
Already these Dieci 25.6R’s are out on hire, proving particularly popular on sites where space is limited.

As reported this week by publications such as The Construction Index, telehandler sales during the first quarter of 2018 have risen by 27%.
Our experiences with our Dieci telehanders also agrees with these findings, as we've seen a rise in interest, enquiries and sales since the start of the year.
The study put the rise down to the increased demand from the house building industry, we have a wide variety of Dieci models ideally suited to house-builders. In fact we have 143 different models in the range!!
Below you will see just some of the 2018 telehandler sales. We have a number of models in stock now ready for delivery ASAP.

This week we have received a special framed commendation from Ammann, for the work done by A&Y Equipment on the Ardent deal.
We reported on this deal in more details last year (www.aandygroup.com/ay-news/ardent-choose-ammann-and-ay)
In short we signed a deal to supply over 100 new Ammann rollers, worth upwards of £4 million. This was made up by the following machines:
A similar deal has been agreed again in 2018 and machines are currently being delivered to Ardent depots all across the country, proving Ardent's trust in both Ammann and A&Y.

We currently have a Zeus 33.11, Dieci's most compact stabilised telehandler, making a great 'hands on' impression, working on a national home builders site.
Dieci claim that this machine gives the user the right balance between power and agility. Which from feedback received is definitely the case.
This model remains compact, whilst still being able to lift to just under 11 metres. The dimensions are as follows:
Height - 2310 mm
Length - 5300 mm
Width - 2290 mm
A big benefit of the 33.11 is that the jack legs deploy within the width of the wheels. Thus allowing the operator to still be able to lift to maximum height, even on compact sites, perfect for modern day house building. Another benefit to this is that you will have already driven over the ground the jack legs will be lowered into, allowing the user to check its suitability first.
In terms of operation, the Zeus 33.11 is powered by a Kubota engine, producing 112 HP of power. A hydrostatic transmission, complete with an inching pedal lets the user complete precise actions, such as placing loads with greater control.
As with all of the Dieci telehandlers, the cab is large with simple controls. The ROPS, FOPS, TOPS cab has excellent all around visibility, which has been praised by the users for improving all around site safety.
If you’re looking to work in tight confines and still need excellent lift capacity, the Dieci Zeus 33.11 can do the job for you with its short wheel base giving it a tighter turning radius and ample lifting power.
This short video of the machine working in Canada highlights some of it's key features.
We have finance options such as Op Lease available, as are extended warranty and service contract possibilities. For further information on this or any of our products please contact the office on: 01789 414525 / firstname.lastname@example.org
During the first quarter of 2018 we have seen sales of the Yanmar SV22 increase. This model which sits in between the SV18 and SV26 weighs in at 2260 kg and has an ultra short tail swing, providing easy access to tight spots.
The basic specs of the SV22 are as follows:
As you can see this model is a compact size and very easy to transport between sites on a trailer, whilst still remaining very stable and powerful. There are a number of further benefits that have helped towards more sales of the SV22. Some of these are shown below:

This week we had more Yanmar excavators heading up North of the border to Scotland. This increases the 2018 numbers of machines sold into the country, making it the best start to a year we've had in Scotland.
The latest load show above consisted of; 1 tonne SV08's, the cabbed SV18 with expanding tracks and the ever popular and reliable SV26.
A&Y's Area Manager, Peter Barfield commented "it's a really positive start to the year for Yanmar in Scotland, with a good range of machines now working in hire fleets and with dealers. We have had some great enquires for Ammann compaction and also our Dieci telehandlers so expect more machines leaving us for Scotalnd soon"
Below you can see machines delivered in January set in a very snowy scene. For more information on our sales, parts and servicing please Contact Us today.
A big thank you to everybody who made 2018's Executive Hire Show a successful one for A&Y Equipment.
It's always great to see new and existing customers and show off the products we believe are the perfect fit for the hire industry.
As always there was plenty of interest in the machines on our stand. The popular Cormidi tracked dumper received high praise, especially for its special undercarriage and stability.
The Yanmar micro SV08 was well liked due to its ability to fit through an 680mm wide gap but also weighing over a tonne still having good capabilities.
We took orders for new Ammann plates and trench rollers during the show and the Dieci telehandler had many people in and out of the seat during the show. From this we have several demonstrations confirmed plus machines sold.
In fact we are extending our special show prices!! So please contact us for more information on these great offers.
Below are a selection of images from the show.
