Have a great New Year and see you in 2018!
Despite being one of our most popular models, the Yanmar SV26 went through some improvements.
The main change is seen in the tracks. As well as having a new design and more grip, they have increased in width from 250mm to 300mm. As well as improving manoeuvrability, these new tracks will also last longer. With 15% less ground pressure, wear will reduce as well as the potential for damages to the ground. The blade has also been widened to accommodate the wider tracks, as well as full ram guard protection on the bucket, dipper and arm cylinders.
Ammann released a new line of technologically advanced APF, forward travel plate compactors. These plates provide industry leading compaction output, manoeuvrability, travel speed and climbing ability. They have also had much work done to reduce unwanted vibration to operators.
These plates fit a broad range of applications, such as gardening, landscaping and road works.
We sold the first of our Pegasus roto telehandlers in September. This model the 40.25 went straight to a home building site complete with a winch and is fully remote controlled. This machine also features a powerful FPT 141 hp Turbocharged Diesel engine. Its 2-speed hydrostatic, 25 mph road speed gets it around to various locations quickly. The ATP (Anti Tipping Protection) safety feature along with stabilisers all around ensures both operator comfort and safety. The Pegasus 40.25 features a lifting capacity of 4000 kg with a 20.5 metre horizontal reach, making it ideal for most construction and building applications.
We supplied FM Conway another batch of Yanmar excavators throughout October. This most recent deal was made up of 6 tonne ViO57’s, 5 tonne ViO50’s, 2.5 tonne SV26’s and 1.5 tonne SV16’s. This is in addition to a similar set of machinery supplied in late 2016, on that occasion 8 tonne ViO80’s were also included.
A&Y’s Area Sales Manager, Peter Ayres said “it’s fantastic to be associated with innovative and ever growing companies like FM Conway. This latest order shows their loyalty to both the Yanmar and A&Y brands.”
The ARX26, which has an operating weight of 2.5 tonne, a drum width of 1200 mm and offers a centrifugal compaction force of 47KN had a successful year with many units being sold. In November more of these rollers left us to both end users and dealers. Users have commented on the great drum visibility as well as the electric drive lever ideal for work on asphalt jobs.
We now have stock of the upgraded Yanmar ViO33 and ViO38. These models are now -6 and join other models in being improved. These changes not only increase performance and productivity but also make the operating experience a much more comfortable one. Just a few of these improvements include: Higher lifting capacities, more stable undercarriage, new engine ECU, improved powerline, air suspension seat, more leg room, re-designed one piece door and much better maintenance access.
As 2017 draws to a close we take a look back on some of the main highlights.
It has been a successful time for A&Y these past 12 months, with improvements on current models, increases in our product portfolio and sales to all manner of end customers.
We saw the first Yanmar ViO12's arrive with us before their launch at the Executive Hire Show. These zero tail swing excavators have an operating weight of 1235 kg and an expandable working width ranging between 830 - 1000 mm. A main feature of these excavators is the use of servo controls and has led to customers telling us they treat the machine more like a 1.5 tonne machine rather than a micro.
The first time we showed the lightweight ATR30 rammer was in February. This compactor weighs just 29kg and is incredibly mobile and manoeuvrable by one man. Powered by a Honda GX35 engine it has become a popular tool for firms carrying out work on fibre optic cabling jobs and patchwork.
We took delivery of the first batch of ASC70 single drum rollers with the very latest in engine technology, which meets US Tier 4 final and EU Stage IIIB emissions standards. All this without the need for AdBlue. The ASC70 is a 7.2 tonne roller powered by a Tier 4f Deutz engine. During a visit from a Deutz engine expert he commented on what a great fit this engine was to the machine. He was impressed with it's output and the way it complemented the needs of the roller "you wont have an issues with these machines" he added.
We signed a new deal with Ardent Hire Solutions, one of the largest providers of self-drive plant in the UK, to supply over 100 new Ammann rollers in a deal worth upwards of £4 million.
These machines will update and compliment an existing fleet of Ammann rollers located throughout Ardent’s 14 national depots. This particular deal is made up with a range of compaction machines, including trench rollers, light tandem rollers and single drum self-propelled rollers.
In time for the Plantworx show we took delivery of a Cormidi CMF tracked carrier. These machines stand for Cormidi Multi Function, it is effectively one machine, with over 100 different configurations through the use of changeable attachments. Examples of regularly used attachments on these machines include: 3 side tip, pallet carrier, concrete mixer, utility grapple and sweeper. During the show we had a lot of interest in this model and we think during 2018 more and more will be sold.
We brought you the exciting news that we had upgraded our product portfolio by becoming the importer for Dieci Construction machines. These products, predominantly telescopic and “roto” telehandlers, but also including truck mixers and dumpers, have complemented our existing ranges.
Export Manager for Dieci, Patrizia Gambarelli commented on the deal “A&Y are the ideal fit to push our construction products in the UK. They are a large, professional company with many years’ experience of the market. Having visited the premises and met the staff we are sure this is going to be a very productive partnership.”
The Dieci Icarus family of machines includes two models; the 40.14 & 40.17. Both of these telehandlers are suitable for jobs in the construction and industry sectors, thanks to their great strength, power and lifting heights.
The specs of the Dieci Icarus' are as follows:

Operators who recently used Ammann’s newest plate compactor have praised the machine for its versatility, reduced hand-arm vibration and low sound levels.
Christian Jordi works for a construction company that specialise in road redevelopment. He has operated the Ammann APF 15/40 Forward Moving Vibratory Plate Compactor in both soil and asphalt applications.
“The new APF plate is perfect due to its flexibility in both applications,” Jordi said.
Jordi and other operators also commended the new Ammann plate compactor for a reduction in unwanted vibration. The improvement is noticeable when compacting soil and aggregates. It becomes even more apparent when working on asphalt, which typically creates more unwanted vibration than other materials.
Christian noted the machine’s outstanding productivity on asphalt, as the APF 15/40 was able to quickly reach compaction goals on a parking lot project.
The new plate is quieter, which was immediately apparent to the team. It is so quiet that even other workers on the site noticed the reduced sound level.
The APF 15/40 is one of five new Ammann vibratory plates that provide industry-leading compaction power, manoeuvrability, forward-moving speed and climbing ability. The product line is known for dramatically reducing unwanted vibration to operators, as became clear on this jobsite.
The plates fit a broad range of applications, such as gardening, landscaping and patchwork for road repairs. They are available with an optional water sprinkler, making them suitable for asphalt jobs, like this project.
We will be showing these new plates at February's Executive Hire Show, in the meantime if you would like more details including pricing please contact one of us on 01789 414525 / email@example.com
In stock we have the new ViO33-6, which is an upgrade on the ViO33U model. These machines now come with many of the features we've discussed on previous -6 machines, such as ViO50, 55 and 38.
As well as having the latest Yanmar 3TNV engines, updated Yanmar cab design, new digital display screen, improved maintenance access and overall being a more stable machine, we have picked out the following as key features these 3275 kg excavators now have:
Higher Lifting Capacities
The boom of the ViO33-6 was completely redesigned in order to fulfill several purposes:
- Lighter construction for an improved lift chart
- Stronger & reinforced structure for a longer service life
- Improved digging performance
The 3TNV88 engine of the ViO33-6 is equipped with an ECU which manages the RPM according to the torque, optimizing the engine load. This enables to save fuel while increasing the productivity of the machines.
New Door Design
The old style bi-fold door is gone! The new one piece door is made up of a heavy duty steel frame, offering high torsion resistance. Not only will this make it much more durable it will make any possible damages much easier to repair.
Air Suspension Seat
The new cab in the ViO33-6 is fitted with an air suspension seat as standard. This fully adjustable and high quality seat gives the operator the highest level of comfort. This in turn allows for longer working periods.
Full Cylinder Protection
New spring steel plates are in place to help shock absorption and protect the cylinders and rods. The boom cylinder has been further reinforced to absorb shocks caused by using hydraulic hammers. The machine is now much less likely to be immobilised due to cylinder rod damages.
Fuel Saving Features
Switching to Eco mode controls the engine speed efficiently whilst letting you use less fuel as you work, reducing it by 300 rpm. When the control levers are not used for 4 seconds, the engine automatically drops to idle. When they are moved again, the engine returns to it’s previous speed.
Upgrading of the powerline components (engine, hydraulic pump and control valve) will give users higher performance levels. Making heavy duty jobs in confined areas a much simpler task. Also making the digger more efficient on all jobs.

As part of our Cormidi range of tracked dumpers is the C85, a dumper with an operating weight of 800kg and the ability to carry a heaped load of 0.36 m3 (or 360 litres).
Despite it being larger than the C50 and C60 it still remains a compact dumper, with a length of less than 2 metres and width of 810mm. The hi-tip function allows users to tip to 1.5 metres, ideally suited to tipping into skips or over walls for example.
Designed, created and tested in Cormidi's Italian factory the C85 has many top features that make them incredibly popular machines to have on site. We spoke to Cormidi and they gave the following strengths as selling points.
In two months time we will be setting up our stand at the annual Executive Hire Show. Held at Coventry's Ricoh Arena, the show is open on Wednesday 7th and Thursday 8th February and will be a great opportunity for visitors to see our machines ideally suited to the hire industry.
Having taken over the construction range of Dieci telehandlers A&Y will be showing the Apollo 25.6R. This compact, rental specific telehandler has a maximum lift height of 6 metres and a maximum lift capacity of 2.5 tonnes. All this from a machine with a width of just 1.85 metres and height of 1.95 metres, where a Kubota engine produces 36.5 Kw of power.
From the Ammann compaction line there will be the brand new forward moving APF vibratory plates. These compactors weighing between 57-106 kg, have gone through a complete redesign. A main selling point is that they produce Hand Arm Vibration levels of under 2.5 m/sec2, allowing for longer and safer operational periods. Other new features include: a maintenance free exciter system, reliable Honda petrol engines, full engine protection from the frame, tool less adding of a water tank and Vulkollan mat.
Also on show will be mini excavators from the Yanmar range, complete with A&Y’s excavator attachments such as AMB breakers. Finally, Cormidi tracked dumpers and Ammann rollers will make up the stand.
