In every walk of life people are requiring more and more from their technical equipment, expecting it to be faster, better and more efficient. This is certainly no different in the construction industry, especially machines working on jobsites where the quality of compaction cannot be left to chance.
In cases where information on compaction control and soil consistency is needed then Ammann's Compaction Expert (ACE) comes into it's own.
It is available for vibratory rollers and vibratory plates. An intelligent measurement and control system, ACE calculates the current level of compaction and adjusts the compaction amplitude and frequency automatically according to the substrate's condition. As the current compaction level of the layer to be compacted (asphalt or earth) is established without delay, the ACE compactors are able to transfer the precise amount of compacting energy to the substrate. The system also calculates the ideal rolling speed and displays the surface temperature on asphalt surfaces.
This data is recorded continuously throughout the compaction process and can be displayed and evaluated using the integrated documentation system named ADS (Ammann Documentation System). Stored data can be read out to provide comprehensive documentation or a thorough analysis.
A clearly laid out display showing the relevant parameters enables intuitive operation of the ACE machines and supports the operator in his work.
In simple terms the lower the layers density the greater the compaction output. However high compaction energy carries the risk of the machine "jumping" and destroying the grain. ACE reliably prevents these unfavourable operating conditions by automatically reducing the compaction energy level as the substrate density increases. Low-density substrates and surfaces are compacted with high amplitude and a low frequency. High-density areas, on the other hand, are compacted with low amplitude and a high frequency.
ACEplus – the combination of the acknowledged ACE measurement and control system with a navigation system provides an efficient analysis and documentation system for continuous compaction control.
The satellite navigation system accurately assigns the measured compaction values to the position coordinates and the time. The graphic display of measurement data visualises the compaction work on site and enables a fast and reliable interpretation of compaction performance. ACEplus therefore increases process reliability and integrates quality control measures in the work process.
Ammann´s unique system adjusts the parameters of vibration according to the actual value of bearing capacity of the compacted material. The System provides an automatic adjustment of the frequency and amplitude and visualization of optimal speed range. Compaction output of machine with ACEpro system is comparable with machines 2 classes heavier than our standard machines. Our new heavy duty gearbox and vibratory mechanism provides required robustness, durability and reliability.
New compaction meter measures absolute value of bearing capacity of the compacted material. The function of active messages easily helps the operator to recognize the compaction achieved.
GPS application for ACEpro and ACEforce
GPS functionality provides “Mapping” and documentation of the compaction process. ACE with GPS shows and registers the compaction on a touch-screen PC.
The ViO80-1 sells itself as offering the performance of a large excavator whilst enjoying the benefits of a compact excavator. However this doesn't mean that the cab size and comfort is comprised.

The ViO80-1 cab interior is very spacious. The large legroom allows the operator to work comfortably for long hours. The entrance, which is also very large, provides easy cab access and exit.

The ARX series from Ammann contains 13 different models in weight categories from 1.5 to 4.6 tonnes, with working widths from 820 to 1380mm.

Some of you may have noticed last week that images of a grapple for forestry work attached to a Yanmar excavator was uploaded to our Twitter and Facebook pages.
