Zero tail swing excavators have become increasingly popular thanks to their easy maneuverability, often leading to increased productivity and a reduction in operating hazards.
The term 'zero tail swing' itself simply means the excavators housing doesn't exceed the track width as it rotates.
As shown in the illustration of an excavator working alongside a wall here.
At A&Y we offer a number of zero tail swing excavators, the Yanmar ViO range, from the smallest ViO10 (1220kg) right through to the ViO80 (8065kg).
We even have the B7 Sigma, which is classed as an 'Ultra Zero Swing' machine as it offers complete rotation (upper frame & equipment) within the crawler width.
As an example we will highlight the ViO33. The zero tail swing advantages of this particular excavator are:

The B7 Sigma is perfectly suited for those users who want to dig deeper and work at heights more efficiently. It is ideal for jobs in densely populated areas and restricted urban sites due to its innovative Σ boom.
The boom is a three piece offset one which offers many benefits compared to your standard boom:
A further big benefit and selling point of this excavator is it's ability to completely rotate (including upper frame and equipment) within the width of the tracks. Meaning however tight the space your machine is in it will be able to rotate fully 360°
These advantages combined make this machine ideally suited to the demolition industry, in fact at the 2015 Demolition Expo it was showcased within the Demolition Innovation category. Further reasons why the B7 Sigma is so suited to Demolition are shown below.

Heiler, the German expert in sports ground construction, has been relying on Yanmar machines for many years to build numerous football grounds for the German national football league. The company from Bielefeld uses the Yanmar mini and compact excavators for creating the grounds of the big Stadiums as well as for sports ground construction of regional sport and football clubs.
Udo Heiler, Managing Director Heiler, says: ''Yanmar engines are unbeatable. Due to our seasonal business, we depend on machines that provide high performance – permanently and with restricted time given, preferably without any outage. Therefore, we rely on Yanmar excavators. We are absolutely convinced of their quality.“
Thanks to their characteristics, Yanmar excavators are perfectly well suited for sports ground construction: compact dimensions, low weight and reliable engines with low fuel consumption. They transport and distribute material for the substructure of sports fields. This structure consists of several layers and can only be navigated by machines with low soil pressure. In addition, the excavators are used to construct paved pathways, parking lots and perform other landscaping jobs in the sports field environment.
Since 2000, Heiler has specialised in sports ground construction. Today, more than half of the German national league football clubs play on football grounds developed by the market expert. Among Heiler’s reference list, there are the former Ruhr Stadium Bochum, the Veltins-Arena in Gelsenkirchen and the Olympic Stadium Berlin with its famous blue raceway. Presently, the company is constructing the third training ground for the Hamburg football team HSV.
For the season 2015, Heiler has extended its fleet with the Yanmar excavator ViO80. If you are thinking of adding a Yanmar Excavator to your fleet then Contact Us for more information.
