The ARW65, Ammann's walk behind roller, combines two application within one machine.
The operator can choose between a high amplitude setting for working on gravel and soil based surfaces, or a low amplitude setting for usage on asphalt and bituminous material.
The ARW 65 features scrapers on both drums and a 60-litre water tank with sprinkler system to ensure the machine is ready to handle bituminous surfaces when called upon.
Edge work - The ARW65 offers clearance on both sides of the drum, allowing compaction work up to curbstones, walls and other obstacles. Therefore no extra work on edges is required, saving precious time.
Smooth operation - Each machine is fitted with a hydraulic drive, ensuring variable speed adjustment and smooth starting/braking actions.
Minimal maintenance - The walk behind rollers are built without mechanical fast-wearing parts such as V belts and a clutch, helping reduce maintenance time.
Safety - The guide handle includes the 'dead mans handle' which immediately shuts off the machine if the operator releases their grip. When in reverse mode the roller's speed limit is set to 2.5km/h as a safety regulation to protect workers.

Colmer Plant Hire of Brentwood pride themselves on supplying the best quality plant to London and the South East.
Recently they have added both models of Ammann Rammax trench roller, the RW1575 and RW1585, to their range. These will join their current range of Ammann 80 and 120 tandem rollers alongside there already large fleet of trench rollers.
MD, Michael Colmer said that the trench rollers were a popular choice for local hirers “we aim to provide a first class service to our customers and the Ammann Rammax products certainly do that”
Users have also commented on the versatility of the RW1575 in particular. Its central articulated joint makes working around obstacles such as manhole covers a simpler task. Another feature that Colmer says is a key feature in the popularity is the easily extendable drum width “The drum extension from 640mm to 850mm allows operators to reduce the number of required passes and therefore increase productivity.”
The more traditional skid steer RW1585 is equally as popular, offering a high level of centrifugal force. The latest arrival was straight out on hire the day after arrival.
Our dedicated Ammann Trench Roller Page will give you further information on these popular machines. Follow the link by clicking HERE
Previously we have touched upon some of the many features and benefits that come as standard on our 8 tonne, Yanmar ViO80-1.
These have included such features as: improved cockpit layout with air suspension seat, larger cabin, EU Stage V ready engine, long arm, VIPPS and VICTAS to name but a few.
However this is just touching the surface of what these machines can offer the owner and operator.
Today we will highlight 5 further features, with a brief explanation of how they benefit the machine.
You can see all of the information on this digger by viewing the brochure, with the link being available HERE - Yanmar ViO80 Brochure
Adjustable Proportional Control
The ViO80-1 is equipped with two auxiliary circuits, both with proportional joystick controls, adjustable using potentiometers.
The proportional control adapts the flow of oil to the needs of each attachment. The operator therefore has perfect control of accessories without the need to reach over and use the same joystick
When the control levers are not used for 4 seconds, the engine automatically drops to idle.
When they are moved again, the engine returns to it’s previous speed.
Environmental performance (noise and emissions) along with fuel consumption are therefore improved.
Battery Cut off Switch
Each machine has an easy to use battery cut off switch. The advantages of this are when the excavator is sat for a period of time then the battery remains in tact also if you are carrying out maintenance to the machine this can be done in a safer environment.
The switch is located in a lockable location so can't be tampered with when machine is immobilised.
The ViO80-1 is equipped with 5 rear and side mirrors. The operator can control the work area
as well as the area around the machine without moving from their seat.
The front part of the roof is also transparent and gives a full view when loading or during demolition work.
New Yanmar LCD Digital Control Monitor
This new interface allows you to manage working time, daily maintenance checks and to programme interventions.
Its also provides useful information on the operation of the machine. Such as; engine oil and coolant temperatures as well as fuel levels and technical data.
The Ammann ARP95 is a 10 tonne, pivot steering tandem roller that gives operators high compaction and maneuverability when working on asphalt jobs.
In fact the operator has been given much attention in this model with plenty of features to make their job more comfortable and in return increase passes and productivity. For example the seat rotates and slides ensuring the best working visibility.
The below video has been released by Ammann this week, it shows off the ARP95 and it's many features and benefits. Well worth a watch...
As we reported last year the ViO80-1 has a 40% larger cab than previous models and with up to 53% better visibility. You can read this article here http://www.aandygroup.com/news/yanmar-8-ton-excavator-now-with-increased-cab-size
The ViO80-1 itself is manufactured in Japan, along with the range of Yanmar tracked carriers, SV100, B7 Sigma, SV08 and ViO10.
However with the 80, 100 and Sigma these machines are shipped to the French factory in St Dizier without cabs... Strange you might think?!
Well it certainly looks strange, seeing a machine arrive without a cab (as the below images show) however this is done so the larger European cabs can be fitted and the smaller Japanese cabins not used.
Benefits of this cab includes:
Our dedicated page on the larger Yanmar excavators will give you further information on them. You can also view the brochures as well as more images.
Yanmar Midi Excavators
This week the first of 3 planned visits during May to the Yanmar facilities in France took place.
Led by A&Y key account manager Peter Barfield this trip was made up by our dealers and customers from the North and Scotland; Ness Plant, Chris Knight Plant Sales and Relentless Plant Services.
Having all arrived from across the country (some taking longer routes than others...) and battling through Parisian rush hour, the group enjoyed some traditional French cuisine before an 'early night' to be ready to travel to Yanmar's marketing and sales office in Reims.
The day in the office was run by a familiar face, that of Mr Bart Verstraete, the Yanmar area sales manager for the UK and Ireland.
Bart ran through a history of Yanmar, along with information on the whole construction ranges, future Yanmar plans and many discussions about the machines and peoples needs were had.
The group were also introduced to key features on the Yanmar products such as VIPPS and VICTAS. The President of Yanmar Jean-Marc Reynaud dropped into the meeting as well and took the time to speak to dealers and customers alike.
A very informative tour of the Lanson Champagne house and then a visit to the Reims Cathedral was taken before yet more traditional French food and wine was enjoyed. As the heavens opened the tour party headed back to the hotel in preparation of the early morning bus to the Yanmar factory in St Dizier.
Once everyone had donned the very fetching hard hats and protective shoe coverings we were shown around the factory, yard and parts departments. Bart was joined by his colleague Manuel and they showed each facet of the factory and how the machines come together. It was interesting to view the production line and how each part is assembled to create the machines.
Yanmar manufacture their excavators from SV16 through to the ViO57 at this facility in St Dizier so it was good to see the similarities and differences between the creation of 2 and 5 tonne excavator for example.
Dealers and customers enjoyed getting more 'hands on' with the machinery and taking an up close look. It was commented on numerous times how good the build quality and finish was and that lots of effort had gone into research and development of the new machines in particular.
A brief golfing lesson/session followed before the group headed back to the airport and home, all a lot more knowledgeable about the Yanmar name in Europe and how it operates. An enjoyable and informative few days all round.
A number of images were taken during the trip and these can be viewed by clicking the below link

Ace Machinery Ltd, A&Y’s Yanmar construction dealer for Ireland have recently sold the first of the new C50R-5TV tracked carriers with turning skip.
This compact 6 tonne carrier, with a payload of 3.5 tonne and Yanmar’s new EU Stage 5 ready engine, has been purchased by Longford Hire Centre.
As a comprehensive provider of plant and equipment to the construction sector in Ireland; Longford Hire Centre's requirements for a tracked carrier of compact dimensions , unsurpassed maneuverability and low ground pressure were ideally met by the C50R which has been dubbed the "lightfoot" by those in Yanmar.
This benefit is in addition to the increased functionality the rotating skip gives the machine. Having a turning skip will mean users have 180° dumping capabilities, perfect for work in tight job sites and alongside trenches.
Further changes in the C50R-5TV have seen the cab size increase. As the air suspension seat and levers swivel, allowing the operator to always be facing in the direction of movement, space and comfort are key. This swivel feature leads to a safer working environment, reduced damage to the work site and higher productivity, as less turns are required. The cab has also been fitted with a new improved switch layout as well as the new Yanmar LED display, which displays crucial machine information, including the automatic DPF maintenance status.
Andrew Kennedy of Ace Machinery is hoping the deal would be the first of a number of C50 carriers coming into Ireland.
