Five models in our range of Yanmar excavators come with extendable undercarriage as standard. The machines with this feature are the semi zero tail swing SV08 and SV18 as well as the zero tail swing ViO10, ViO12 and ViO17.
The operator can switch from the open frame configuration for increased stability, down to the closed frame to work in tight spots or reduced lanes. In the case of the SV08 this can be to travel through a standard doorway (as shown in the below images)
The beauty of this feature is not just the added versatility it gives but the ease in which the adjustments can be made. An accessible lever controls the enlargement of the chassis with the blade extension being operated by folding the additional length out from the blade and pinning it in position. This function requires no tools and means that the parts stay attached to the machine at all times, reducing the likelihood of lost parts.
Yanmar have also reduced the clearance between the sliding undercarriage parts, thus meaning no build up of soil or mud during the extension and retraction.
The changes in machine widths of the excavators are as follows:
SV08 = 680mm - 840mm
ViO10 = 830mm - 1000mm
ViO12 = 830mm - 1000mm
ViO17 = 950mm - 1280mm
SV18 = 980 - 1320mm
The below video shows in simple steps just how easy it is to expand and contract the undercarriage.
This week we have had further telehandlers from our Dieci range arrive with us, straight from the factory.
These are in addition to our existing models in stock: The compact 25.6 & 25.6R (6 metre, 2.5 tonne)and the versatile 32.6 (6 metre, 3.2 tonne).
The following new stock models will be fitted with UK sourced 4" brick forks, with tie backs for site/road travel. The forks are free to swing which enables easier loading.
Each model comes with a 24 month/2000 hr warranty (whichever comes first) with a factory extended warranty available upon request.
Each Dieci sold will have a basic PDI carried out by A&Y included into the price.
Joining our stock we now have:
Zeus 33.11 - a compact 10.6m lift machine with jack legs
Icarus 40.14 - a popular 14m class machine with jack legs and frame levelling. Also comes with the benefit of air con.
Icarus 40.17 - mainstream 17m class machine, again with jack legs, frame leveling and air con.

Yanmar have revealed two new models in their 2.5-3 tonne, zero tail swing range. The ViO26-6 is a 2665 kg machine aimed specifically at the hire industry, whereas the 2745 kg ViO27-6 is designed more for the end user. Both machines have key features from the ongoing Yanmar -6 excavator upgrades.
Compared to the old ViO25 you will notice many differences to these new models. An obvious change comes in the cab, users will now find a much improved work station, complete with; digital display screen, larger floor space, new travel pedals, 2nd speed on the blade lever and new more comfortable seats.
Key specifications such as dig depth and dump height are also increased in both models. This is helped by a real improvement in the undercarriage. An increased width along with a new X-shaped design has not only improved travel performance but also made the ViO26 and 27 more stable machines.
Users so far have commented on the quick cycle times. Yanmar have improved each of the powerline components (engine, hydraulic pump, distributor) meaning no compromise between power and compactness. A flow sharing hydraulic system, made up of a variable-flow piston pump and a load signalling flow share distributor makes combination movements far simpler and smoother than on previous models.
Further features such as; full cylinder protection, improved accessibility, new door design and a hydraulic line for clamshell buckets makes these new models a great fit for all manner of jobsites.

This week we had more Yanmar excavators heading up North of the border to Scotland. This increases the 2018 numbers of machines sold into the country, making it the best start to a year we've had in Scotland.
The latest load show above consisted of; 1 tonne SV08's, the cabbed SV18 with expanding tracks and the ever popular and reliable SV26.
A&Y's Area Manager, Peter Barfield commented "it's a really positive start to the year for Yanmar in Scotland, with a good range of machines now working in hire fleets and with dealers. We have had some great enquires for Ammann compaction and also our Dieci telehandlers so expect more machines leaving us for Scotalnd soon"
Below you can see machines delivered in January set in a very snowy scene. For more information on our sales, parts and servicing please Contact Us today.
Did you see our lightweight ATR30 rammer on our stand at EHS last week?
If not this short video will show you exactly why this 29kg, maneuverable rammer needs to be part of your fleet!
A big thank you to everybody who made 2018's Executive Hire Show a successful one for A&Y Equipment.
It's always great to see new and existing customers and show off the products we believe are the perfect fit for the hire industry.
As always there was plenty of interest in the machines on our stand. The popular Cormidi tracked dumper received high praise, especially for its special undercarriage and stability.
The Yanmar micro SV08 was well liked due to its ability to fit through an 680mm wide gap but also weighing over a tonne still having good capabilities.
We took orders for new Ammann plates and trench rollers during the show and the Dieci telehandler had many people in and out of the seat during the show. From this we have several demonstrations confirmed plus machines sold.
In fact we are extending our special show prices!! So please contact us for more information on these great offers.
Below are a selection of images from the show.
The tracks are blacked, drums painted and windows cleaned - we're all set to welcome you to the Executive Hire Show 2018.
Once again this year we are located on stand B45 and will be showcasing a number of products from our Ammann, Yanmar Dieci and Cormidi ranges. In fact the full list of what we are exhibiting is as follows:
Yanmar SV08 - a 1 tonne mini (with grab attachment)
Yanmar ViO17 - a 1.7 tonne, zero tail swing mini excavator (with AMB125 breaker)
Ammann ARX12 - our 80mm tandem roller
Ammann ARX26 - our 120mm tandem roller
Ammann ARR1575 - this popular trench roller comes with articulation and oscillating technology
Light equipment - a selection of Ammann vibratory plates and rammers will also be on show

If you can't make it to the show then please don't hesitate to contact us for further details about any of our products.
This week we have sold and delivered an Ammann ASC50 single drum roller.
This roller has an operating weight of 4.5 tonnes, with a drum width of 1400 mm. Despite it's compactness a Centrifugal force of 100 kN make it well suited to jobs such as; pipeline construction, road subbabse's, structural backfilling and housing developments.
Ammann define the ASC 50 Soil Compactor as a heavier “small” compactor, with more force delivered from a machine that still is able to fit into tight spaces.
The ASC 50 HD version features greater gradeability and additional compaction selections that include a combination of low frequency with high amplitude and compaction force.
• Automatically adjusts if a drive component slips
• Only stops when both drive wheels and the drum are without traction, resulting in maximum grade-ability on any type of ground
• Includes “twin-lock” traction control
• Offers no-axle concept for exceptional footing
Optimum Compaction Force
• Industry-leading compaction outputs
• Smooth or padfoot drum
• Low centre of gravity
Productivity in Small Spaces
• Features articulation-oscillation joint
• Works flush against objects such as curbs
• Offers exceptional visibility for operator
• Operator platform is mounted on vibration-free rubber mounts for highest comfort
• Drives energy into material and away from operator
• Has ROPS Operator platform
